Intermediate Piano Lessons for Kids

In the city centre of The Hague

Who is this course perfect for?

This Intermediate Piano course is ideal for your child if they’ve had 1-2 years of experience (in our Beginner Group or elsewhere) and can read basic music and play simple pieces with both hands. If they learn best through play, exploration, and hands-on activities—rather than sitting still with a book—they’ll thrive here!

What your child will do in this course:

In our Intermediate Piano Lessons, your child will improve their piano skills through fun and challenging activities. They will work on technique, reading music, and ear training at the same time thanks to our “Geometric Learning” method. They’ll also play with others in the group, like in duets or small ensembles, which helps them learn teamwork and listening. We’ll encourage their creativity by letting them try simple improvisation or even change melodies to make their own short tunes.

What your child will gain by this course

In our Intermediate Piano Lessons, your child will grow in many ways. They’ll play more advanced and expressive songs, with better control and technique. They’ll understand music deeper—like how chords and harmonies work—and get better at reading and recognizing music by ear. They’ll also become more musically mature by creating their own tunes. We keep lessons fun and engaging to avoid boredom, while building their confidence to perform in front of others. They’ll explore different music styles, growing their love for music and their ability to play it with skill and creativity.

What Makes This Course Special?

Our "Geometric Learning" ditches boring drills. Kids play recognizable song parts immediately.

Kids learn music like a language: we interconnect different activities for deep, intuitive understanding.

We use games to teach kids advanced piano concepts in a fun and easy way.

We reward their achievements with prizes to encourage them to give their best.

When kids have fun, results come fast and are guaranteed. That's our philosophy.

Your piano teacher

My name is Luca Ridolfo, and I am a piano teacher at Studio MusicalMente. During my studies, I took jazz and classical piano lessons with teachers from all over the world. I love to pass on the inspiration I received from them and my passion for music to my students. I used my teaching experience in Italy and Spain to develop a structured method that helps beginners learn to play songs from day one at their own pace and level.

Frequently Asked Questions

"You mention games and fun. Will my child still learn "proper" piano skills?"

We combine fun with effective learning. We teach music reading skills naturally through our activities. Children learn to see patterns and understand notation as a helpful tool for playing songs they enjoy, not as a boring separate exercise. We build strong musical foundations including technique, ear training, and theory—all in an engaging way.

"How much practice is expected at home each week?"

Because our lessons are so interactive and cover many aspects, children often feel more motivated to explore what they've learned at home by themselves, without their parents telling them to practice. For intermediates kids, we encourage consistent practice sessions rather than infrequent ones. The goal is to make practice enjoyable and a positive habit. We focus on quality and enjoyment over strict time quotas, especially in the early stages.

“How is this different from the piano lessons at home”

While at-home lessons offer convenience, our studio environment at Studio MusicalMente is specifically designed to supercharge your child's learning through our Geometric Learning approach. If we tried to bring everything we use into your home for each lesson (different pianos, different musical instruments and the games we use), it would be quite a setup!

“What are the costs and commitment involved?”

We offer different package options to suit various needs. We'll go over all the details regarding lesson fees, term lengths, and our policies during your free intro call, so you have a clear understanding before making any decisions.
